As shown in my significant writing project, other than the citations which aren’t included in the link, I was able to successfully cite my sources in MLA format. Not only my sources, but my overall paper is formatted correctly according to MLA. We went over it multiple times in class, so I knew what some common errors were, and how to do quality citations. Mentioning the authors name, and oftentimes the page number was most of the citations I had to add. For example, in the paper linked above, here is one of my quick citations before and after the quote. When explaining this concept, Beck writes “In telling the story of how you became who you are, and who you’re on your way to becoming, the story itself becomes a part of who you are,” (2). However, I didn’t add the time for when quoting a podcast, due to my inability to find the podcast later on in the writing process. This to me, shows some room for improvement to make sure I cite every single source correctly in the future which is important to show. As well as that, our class went over how to properly add local revisions to our papers which was very helpful. Before discussing the basics in class, I would do barely any edits, very easy to spot surface level stuff. However, after experiencing in class, and meeting with our writing fellow, I learned really helpful techniques to catch those small inconspicuous errors in grammar or spelling. Reading my essay out loud was probably the most helpful technique that I learned for fixing those sentence-level errors.
