The differences between my first and final drafts of our second class paper are drastically different. In terms of global revision, the paper stayed the same for the most part. However, a central part of my paper, the thesis, was altered a little bit. It became more specific, more focused on exactly how personal narratives impact people instead of the wide scope that I initially started with. I also elaborated more in my analysis of evidence in my final draft compared to my first. In the first draft, I kept each paragraph almost equal in length, too much of following an imagined script of ideas. In the second and final draft, I expanded on my ideas more fully, engaging the texts I chose in real conversation instead of summarizing and breezing past my thoughts like I do in the first draft. In terms of local revision, I mostly used notes from peers and my revision techniques to catch small grammar, spelling, and other minor sentence errors. Due to me rewriting the entire essay, there was not much initial local revision to do. I pretty much did that as I went, fixing any minor errors as I reread and wrote the essay. I worked really hard on revising and rewriting this essay to be the best possible, and I think the difference between the two drafts clearly shows that. The difference in essays shows how much I have learned to be critical of my own writing in a way that is beneficial to me as a writer and any audience who reads it. This class has taught me numerous ways to revise, and how to expand upon my already existing techniques in order to engage with a text, and write a high quality essay.
